Back To The Basket x
Feed The Soul
After receiving a cease and desist from Ball Is Life, the homies of Portland based shop Ball Was Life needed to pivot, and pivot seamlessly they did. Shop owner Troy Douglass curates an atmosphere and experience full of nostalgic basketball memorabilia, from vintage tees and jerseys, to collectibles and hard to come by footwear. Douglass and his team were making their way down the court, ready to score until BIL stepped in to take the charge, and the shop eurostepped their way to “Back To The Basket.” Once we discussed this “blessing in disguise,” it was only right for us to work together to tell the story and finally collaborate. Referencing the late great Kobe Bryant, Troy refers to B2TB as a different animal, but the same beast. Back To The Basket is every bit of Ball Was Life, but now with their own identity, the energy of the shop on Hawthorne pulls a crowd in even more. As we get older, it’s easier to accept that Ball Was Life, and we’re ready to hang up our shoes, but don’t get it twisted, though we play a little bit slower and more back to the basket, we can still give you buckets.
“Ball was life…
Now I got my Back To The Basket…
But hooping still Feeds The Soul.”
